Are you avoiding exercise? It’s probably not for lack of discipline, according to one study. In fact, you should be less demanding of yourself.
One of the most common mistakes people make when they start exercising is to think of physical activity in rigid terms. It should definitely be done in a gym. A treadmill should be used. You have to sweat. You have to repeat movements.
“It’s this rigid view of physical activity that can lead to disappointment.” says Dr. Todd Duhamel, a Heart + Stroke researcher and senior scientist at the Cardiovascular Sciences Institute at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
